SubC Expands Real-Time Streaming to Rayfin Cameras, DVRs, and Blackbox
Quick Overview (TL;DR): Real-time video streaming is now available on SubC’s Rayfin cameras, DVR, and Blackbox systems. Users can stream efficiently encoded footage from offshore to onshore in real time, while continuing to record full-resolution video locally. The activation process is simple and consistent across all three systems.
Video Streaming Available on Core SubC Systems
SubC Imaging has expanded real-time video streaming capabilities to three of its core subsea systems: Rayfin underwater cameras, DVR+ Overlay, and its Blackbox recorder. This update gives teams a consistent way to stream live video and audio to onshore stakeholders, improving visibility, collaboration, and inspection workflows.
Once a streaming account is activated, users can enable streaming directly within the software using a simple toggle. The process is the same across all supported systems, reducing setup time and making it easier for teams to adopt remote workflows across projects.
“This makes streaming much more approachable for our customers,” said Adam Rowe, VP of Software. “They don’t have to learn different methods for different products. Once you understand the process for one system, you understand it for all of them.”
The unified approach is already being used in the field across a variety of configurations:
Rayfin Cameras
Rayfin underwater cameras equipped can stream directly to shore, making it ideal for quick setups or portable inspections where a DVR isn’t required.
Blackbox
Installed onboard a vessel, SubC’s Blackbox can stream an efficiently encoded version of recorded footage to onshore teams in real time, while continuing to save full-resolution video locally.
Blackbox & DVR+ Overlay
In more complex operations, teams use SubC’s Blackbox for high-resolution recording and DVR+ Overlay to receive and manage the stream, enabling live review, annotation, and inspection logging.
